God has called us into the story of revival that He’s been writing from the beginning. We’re excited for where this path will take us, and we know our journey has only begun. Here’s the story of what God has done so far…
A small group of college students, professors, and pastors in Marion, Indiana feels a common calling to begin praying for revival. This group begins to gather together periodically for prayer, fasting, and conversation about what God is speaking to them. Among this group were future Awaken board members as well as Donny, Elaine, and Garrett Howell.
After a season of prayer, this core team joins together to lead an official event focused on revival. The first ever "Awaken" Conference is held at Indiana Wesleyan University as an opportunity for college students to go deeper in their faith and experience spiritual renewal.
Our team transitions to operating as a formal ministry. We receive 501(c)3 status with the United States Government and begin operating as a federally recognized non-profit organization. The first ever Awaken Night of Worship event occurs on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
Awaken expands beyond the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University and begins to focus on revival in Grant County, Indiana. We sponsor a series of prayer meetings, worship nights, and a youth camp over the course of 2013.
Awaken launches our first national tour, sending our event team across the nation to lead retreats, conferences, and worship nights for local churches. Hundreds of lives were changed and impacted, with dozens of people becoming involved in a 12-month follow-up discipleship program.
We focus primarily on college campuses and begin leading weekly worship services on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. These services are part of a discipleship program and internship program we provide on the campus.
Awaken expands to plant campus ministries at both Ball State University and Taylor University. Our organization officially becomes part of the spiritual life programming of the Dean of the Chapel's Office at Indiana Wesleyan University.
